Quad Under-and-Over Voltage Monitor for Positive & Negative Supplies Offers Versatility & Precision
MILPITAS, CA - July 20, 2006 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC2914, a precision quad input voltage monitor with four separate undervoltage (UV) and overvoltage (OV) inputs, designed for systems with multiple supplies. The IC offers a versatile and precise solution for voltage monitoring by giving the user the flexibility to configure specific UV and OV trip thresholds, while also guaranteeing ±1.5% threshold accuracy of the monitored voltages over temperature. A buffered reference output and a three-state input polarity-select pin allow for monitoring of up to two separate negative voltages without the need of any external components, greatly simplifying both design and layout. All monitors share common undervoltage and overvoltage open-drain outputs that can be wired-OR'd together to indicate a single fault. The LTC2914-1 has latching capabilities for the overvoltage output, and the LTC2914-2 has an output disable feature to facilitate margining.
The LTC2914 features input glitch filters that eliminate the noise on the monitored voltages and ensures reliable operation without false triggering. With an unlimited choice of threshold selection, simple configuration and low quiescent current of 70uA, the LTC2914 is a ideal for systems such as telecom/network equipment, storage servers, desktop and notebook computers that have various voltage levels and require reliable and accurate voltage monitoring. In addition to the quad UV and OV monitor, a dual version, the LTC2913 is also available.
The LTC2914 is offered in 16-pin SSOP and 16-pin 5mm x 3 mm DFN packages and is specified over the commercial and industrial temperature ranges. The LTC2913 is offered in 10-pin MSOP and 3mm x 3mm 10-pin DFN packages. The LTC2914 is priced at $3.75 each and the LTC2913 begins at $2.30 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
