12V Power Ride-Through Application Using Six 10F, 2.7V Supercapacitors in Series with Front End Flyback

The LTC3225 is a programmable supercapacitor chargers designed to charge two supercapacitors in series to a selectable output voltage (4.8V/5.3V or 4V/4.5V) from 2.8V to 5.5V input with automatic cell balancing. This example uses six 10F, 2.7V supercapacitors in series that charged by three LTC3225’s set to 4.8V with a charging current of 150mA. Front end is a Flyback using the LT3714 and 1.8V POL is regulated by a LTM4601A.
