LTspice IV: Schematic Editor

Gabino Alonso - Strategic Marketing Apr 28th 2011

Unlike many schematic capture programs, LTspice IV schematic editor was written explicitly for running SPICE simulations. This means that if you click on an object, the default behavior is to plot the voltage on that wire or current through that component, not select the object for editing. Hence, the first couple of times you use the schematic editor it may be confusing based on your previous experience with GUI interface. This video provides an introduction to the use of LTspice schematic capture program in the layout of a simple circuit so that you can draft and make edits of your design quickly.

To launch a ready to run LTspice demonstration circuit for this part:

  • Step 1: If you have not installed LTspice on this computer, download and install LTspice IV
  • Step 2: Once LTspice is installed, click on the link(s) below to launch the simulation
  • Step 3: If LTspice IV does not automatically open after clicking the link above, you can instead run the simulation by right clicking on the link and selecting "Save Target As". After saving the file to your computer, start LTspice and open the demonstration circuit by selecting 'Open' from the 'File' menu
