Typical Application

LTP5901-WHM Typical Application

Description

SmartMesh WirelessHART networks are populated by motes, the nodes on the network. Based on Dust’s breakthrough Eterna™ technology, the motes are ultra low power, extending battery life to years and many times that of competing products. In addition to extra long battery life, the motes feature an advanced array of features. The SmartMesh WirelessHART 802.15.4 Mote Modules incorporate the LTC5800-WHM.

The LTP5901-WHM PCBA module includes an on-board chip antenna, while the LTP5902-WHM PCBA module includes an MMCX antenna connector. Both PCB modules are surface-mountable. The LTP5900-WHM PCBA module includes a MMCX antenna connector with 22-pin thru-hole connections and is ideal for customers migrating from previous the previous generation of Dust mote module (M2510). All three mote modules come with modular certifications for FCC, IC, and CE.

Feature

Benefit

8x Lower Power

Based on Eterna™ 802.15.4e SoC technology, extends battery life to years

Highly Integrated Hardware

Includes the DC-to-DC converter, on-board PA, and antenna-matching circuitry. Reduces BOM cost by minimizing components needed.

Pre-engineered RF

RF elements are pre-tuned for optimized performance, including temperature compensation, saving development time.

Single Mote Type

All nodes are the same full-functioned devices that route. Avoids complexity of having distinct routers vs. non-routing end nodes. Retains flexibility to configure nodes as non-routing if desired to save even more power. Allows easy expandability of network.

Battery Powered Routers

Can build out a network without any line powered devices. Flexibility to be line powered of energy harvested if desired.

Highly Accurate Time Stamping

Time stamping on every node is available to applications with millisecond accuracy

Energy Harvesting Support

Very low power design enables motes to be powered by a wide variety of energy harvesters

Advanced Software Design for Simple Integration

Mote API simply becomes the wireless interface for your application. The mote can also provide readings for a specific set of functions (e.g. temperature) for use in your application.

Integrated Temperature Sensor

Precise temperature sensor is integrated directly into the mote.

Standards-based

Compliant to international standard IEC 62591 (WirelessHART)

SmartMesh networks are highly configurable, and allow the user to trade off performance parameters (e.g. latency and power consumption). The Current Calculator spreadsheet enables users to estimate average current consumption and average latency in a particular network topology. In addition, Starter Kits enable users to evaluate network performance in real-world application environments.
