Interface

Drivers and receivers for traditional serial port applications such as RS232, RS485, V.35 and multi-protocol combinations. Key features are ruggedness, 10-15kV ESD protection and availability in industry-standard footprints.

RS232/RS562 Transceivers

Industry standard single, dual and combination transceivers of up to five drivers and receivers for RS232 and RS562 are available for power supplies from 1.8V to 5.5V.  These devices feature high HBM ESD ruggedness and can support data rates up to 1Mbps.   DTE or DCE configurations are also available in 3.3V or 5V versions.  Features include high ESD protection, low voltage operation and small package size.

RS485/422

Linear offers a broad selection of industry standard, low power CMOS RS485 and RS422 interface transceivers  featuring high ESD protection, failsafe, high speed and high voltage versions for rugged environments. Our latest family of  RS485/RS422 transceivers feature an extended operating temperature of -40°C to 125°C that helps ensure reliable data transmission in harsh environmental conditions commonly posed by automotive applications. Select models feature slew rate limiting to lower EMI, while others include a receiving logic-selectable 120 ohm termination.  All devices are designed to operate in systems with 3.3V or 5V supplies, possess a maximum data rate of 20Mbps and maintain a high input impedance capable of supporting up to 256 nodes.  In addition, enhanced ESD protection guarantee that no damage or latchup can occur up to  ±15kV HBM.  These features, coupled with a wide operating window, make these products suitable for an array of automotive applications including level translation, backplane transceiving and low power RS422/RS485 transceiving.

Multiprotocol

Ideal for serial ports in networking and telecom applications, these multiprotocol transceivers support RS232, V.35, X.21 and a host of other legacy protocols.

I2C and SMBus Bus Buffers and Accelerators

I2C bus buffers and accelerators offer capacitive isolation and active pull-ups to eliminate common 2-wire bus problems that occur when many nodes are added to a bus; a bus buffer is commonly used in a high availability (hot swap) environment or when address conflicts occur.  These devices feature level translation capabilities, stuck bus recovery, 6kV ESD protection and up to 400kHz operation.

SIM Interface

Linear Technology's line of SIM interface parts provide power conversion and level shifting for GSM SIM modules and Smart Cards

CAN Transceiver

Linear Technology's CAN Transceiver provides fault protected communications for industrial and automotive environments.  Features include rugged ESD protection and ISO11898 compatibility, the international standard which specifies the data link layer and physical signaling of the CAN.

Interface uModule Transceivers

Linear Technology’s Isolator µModule Technology is a new development platform that allows Linear to reliably integrate inductive/magnetic isolation, discrete components, ICs and power onto a single substrate PCB. This high level of integration results in products that require no external components. All resistors, capacitors, inductors and ICs are onboard.

Any application from signaling to sampling can be supported by the platform, delivering isolation to even non-traditional applications. High power levels (up to 1 W), supported by low ripple regulation, a cored power transformer that reduces radiated emissions, and better-than-average efficiency up to 65%, are available to the application. Not only is the device self-powered, but it also provides external isolated power for other neighboring functions. To achieve greater than 2500VRMS isolation, the technology uses coupled signal inductors embedded in our µModule substrate. This technique ensures consistent ruggedness and reliability. This platform will be certified by safety houses, including UL, CSA and IEC to guarantee the isolation barrier’s effectiveness.
