Description

The LTC2294 is a 12-bit 80Msps, low power dual 3V A/D converter designed for digitizing high frequency, wide dynamic range signals. The LTC2294 is perfect for demanding imaging and communications applications with AC performance that includes 70.6dB SNR and 90dB SFDR for signals well beyond the Nyquist frequency.

DC specs include ±0.4LSB INL (typ), ±0.2LSB DNL (typ) and no missing codes over temperature. The transition noise is a low 0.3LSBRMS.

A single 3V supply allows low power operation. A separate output supply allows the outputs to drive 0.5V to 3.6V logic. An optional multiplexer allows both channels to share a digital output bus.

A single-ended CLK input controls converter operation. An optional clock duty cycle stabilizer allows high performance at full speed for a wide range of clock duty cycles.

Linear Technology offers free software and demo boards that greatly simplify the task of testing and evaluating our data converters. To use these powerful tools with the LTC2294:

  1. Download the PScope (QuickEval II) System software. The PScope System is a USB-based product demonstration and data acquisition system for use with Linear Technologys high performance analog to digital converters. The software also includes web links to the appropriate device data sheets and provides an automatic update feature to keep the software current with the latest set of device drivers.

  2. Request the DC890 FastDAACS USB Controller either online or from your local sales representative. The DC890 interfaces with the USB port of your computer and connects to the LTC2294 daughter cards. 

  3. Request the LTC2294 (DC851A-H or DC851A-M)  from your local sales representative. These daughter cards along with the QuickEval software package, allow easy evaluation of the part from your PC.
